Multi-layered security arrangements in place to ensure peaceful Republic Day celebrations: IGP Kashmir | KNO

Srinagar, Jan 23 (KNO): Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi on Friday said that multi-layered security arrangements have been put in place across the Kashmir Valley, including Srinagar, to ensure peaceful Republic Day celebrations. Talking to reporters, IGP Birdi, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with paramilitary forces, have tightened the security grid to ensure smooth conduct of the events. He said the arrangements cover the entire Valley, including Srinagar, and are aimed at ensuring the safety of participants and the general public. "The main Republic Day functions will be held in different districts, with chief guests receiving salutes during the ceremonies," he said. "In Srinagar, the main event will be organised at Bakshi Stadium, where police personnel, school children, and the public are expected to participate in the parade," the IGP said. This morning, officials and participants paid tributes to martyrs at the Balidan Stump in the city. Birdi, as per KNO said, such ceremonial events serve both to honour the martyrs and to instil a sense of discipline and patriotism among attendees—(KNO)
